Farm Description

Our farm has been in the family since 1929 when William Mace (Great Grandfather to Lachlan) bought what was known as Toorilla Plains. He originated from Moree where he was a sheep trader. He must have seen great potential here in those days.

Today we are 4th generation farmers and our mission is to sustainably maximise production on Toorilla. Our vision is to improve the ecology of the land.

Toorilla is a mix of high forest country pastured with native grasses and seca stylo. The marine plain has native water couch, marine couch and a dense pasture of parra grass.

We run a composite herd of Brangus, Brahman and Charbray cattle. The Brangus breed continues to perform well in our coastal conditions. We buy Angus Bulls and Brahman Bulls to cross over our cows and heifers. We have a tight mating period where we expect each cow to bring home a weaner every year. We wean according to cow body score condition.

We monitor grass and match that with our stocking records. This enables us to maximise the use of our pasture without risking animal performance. We are really focused on ground cover.

We are grateful for the opportunity to be farmers and we love what we do.
